For the love of food
Every day for our constantly changing seasonal menu – within a relaxed yet bustling and friendly atmosphere – the chef prepares and cooks fresh meals to order. Nothing is bought in and we pride ourselves upon our attention to detail.
We have some firm favourites that always figure on our menu: Fish and Chips and Bavette steak, cut and cooked to order. Chicken Kiev. Homemade Pies. Our other dishes are decided upon on the day – whatever is fresh in the market comes to The Angel of Bow that day. Seafood is one of our specialities, and being a stone’s throw from Billingsgate market is a great advantage to our kitchen!
We are also unique in that we are returning to the traditions of the East End by serving freshly shucked Maldon oysters.
Buy half a dozen – the taste is always delicious! Our menu can be best described as modern British pub food.
All our meats are supplied by local purveyors and all other produce is carefully sourced from respected producers, locally sourced wherever possible.
Our kitchen closes at 8pm on a Sunday – the chefs need at least a little daylight! – and reopens at 5pm on a Wednesday for Dinner.
We serve our amazing Roasts from 1pm until 8pm every Sunday.
Slow roast shoulder of Lamb
Half of free range chicken
Free Range Belly of Pork served with crackling
And occasionally Game, Guinea Fowl and Duck.
We always serve a vegetarian and a vegan option: with wonderful Mushroom Pithiver
All our roasts are accompanied with a homemade Yorkshire pudding, roast potatoes, roast parsnips and seasonal vegetables with traditionally made gravy.
