YOUR SAFETY IS OUR NUMBER ONE PRIORITY
What a few months it has been!
We simply cannot wait to welcome you all back to The Angel of Bow. Of utmost importance to us is the continued safety of you – our valued customers – and our team of in-house staff.
We will be implementing the following protocols to ensure a safe and risk-free experience for everyone during this important time of societal readjustment:
Separated areas within the pub for eat and drink-in customers and takeout customers
One way contraflow entrance and exit system for in-house customers
Hosted experience with table service
Contactless card payments
Contact tracing system to ensure all of our customers stay in the loop at all times over the coming weeks
Enhanced health and hygiene protocols in all areas for both customers and staff
IN-HOUSE DINING AND DRINKING
We will be operating a table-service-only experience for both drinking and dining customers, with at-table orders and card payments being taken by a dedicated member of the team. The interior of the bar has been comprehensively rearranged to ensure full social distancing guidelines are complied with, and we ask for your support in ensuring that the Governmental guidelines regarding common sense and mutual safety are met at all times.
We kindly ask all customers to arrive wearing a face mask, and hand sanitizer will be available at the new dedicated entrance for your convenience. You will be greeted by a Host, and asked to provide contact details for each member of your party. These will be kept on file for 21 days and then destroyed, as per the Governmental guidelines.
Once signed in, you will be led to your assigned table. All tables will be one metre (+) apart, and no more than 6 people will be seated at any given table. If you have a larger party, we will endeavour to accommodate you on two separate tables. Each table area will then be thoroughly sanitized between sittings.
Individual lockable unisex toilet cubicles will be in operation for all guests and hand sanitizers will be stationed in the communal toilet area, which we encourage you to use at all times. We ask all customers to be respectful to the unisex nature of the communal toilet area outside these cubicles.
Background music in the bar will be kept at a level to ensure customers can talk freely and without the need for unnecessary projection.
A dedicated outside smoking area will be available for customers, although no glass may be taken outside. We will not be able to offer outside seating at this current time, and politely ask customers to be respectful by not congregating in groups in the outside area.
There will also be a dedicated exit for the in-house customers, with hand sanitizer available.
Whilst we will always try to welcome walk-in customers, we strongly recommend booking in order to avoid disappointment, as we expect to fill up fast – we’ve all missed being able to pop down to our local for a well-earned beverage!
PLEASE EMAIL: firstname.lastname@example.org or call 020 7537 3045 to book a table with us.
TAKEOUT – THE ANGEL OF HOME
The hugely successful takeout service we have pioneered in the last few months of lockdown – The Angel of Home – will continue once we reopen.
The current takeout area of the bar has been re-proportioned, and we will continue serving a comprehensive selection of food – as well as our full range of draught, bottles and cans – for takeout.
From Saturday 4th July onwards, we will continue to offer a 20% discount on all takeout food only.
There will be a dedicated entrance/exit for the takeout service, and the area will be separated from the in-house diners and drinkers for maximum safety.
We politely ask that all customers arrive wearing a face mask, and there is hand sanitizer available in the takeout area for your convenience.
If you wish to view our current selection of artisan, craft, Belgian and classic beers, ciders, fine wines and gluten/alcohol free bottles online, then simply click below.
20% discount on takeout food orders only from 4th July 202 onwards.
Your kind of gathering place
A BEAUTIFUL PLACE TO RELAX WITH FRIENDS IN THE HEART OF BOW
When we started our East London journey, we took an old (rather dilapidated!) 1930’s Public House and refurbished it to the highest of standards, in a site that for many years served as one of the East End’s best-known music venues.
We are aiming to offer the whole package – great food and drink, a beautiful setting, warm service and – above all – genuine care and hospitality!
The Angel of Bow is a privately family-owned public house with a pretty beer terrace, wood burning stove, a daily-changing menu and exciting craft beers: we specialise in and are passionate about East London Breweries.
…plus a great wine list and the World of Whisky: beautiful whiskies from all around the world!

For the love of food
Every day for our constantly changing seasonal menu – within a relaxed yet bustling and friendly atmosphere – the chef prepares and cooks fresh meals to order. Nothing is bought in and we pride ourselves on our attention to detail.
We have some firm favourites that always figure on our menu: Fish and Chips and 8oz Rib-eye steak, cut and cooked to order.
Our other dishes are decided upon on the day – whatever is fresh in the market comes to The Angel of Bow for that day.
Seafood is one of our specialities, and being a stone’s throw from Billingsgate market is a great advantage to our kitchen!
We are also unique in that we are returning to the traditions of the East End by serving freshly shucked Maldon oysters. Buy one or half a dozen – – the choice is yours but the taste is always delicious!
Our menu can be best described as modern British pub food.
All of our meats are supplied by local purveyors and all other produce is carefully sourced from respected producers, and locally sourced wherever possible.
Our kitchen closes at 6pm on a Sunday – the chefs need at least a little daylight! – and reopens at 5pm on a Wednesday for Dinner.
We serve our amazing Roasts from 1pm until 6pm every Sunday.
Slow roast shoulder of Lamb
Half of free range chicken
Free Range Belly of Pork served with crackling
And occasionally Game, Guinea Fowl and Duck
We always serve a vegetarian and a vegan option: with wonderful Mushroom and Squash Wellingtons.
All our roasts are accompanied with a homemade Yorkshire pudding, roast potatoes, roast parsnips and seasonal vegetables with traditionally made gravy.
